## What are the PayPal AUP?

AUP is the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy: the rules that state what you are allowed to buy and sell. PayPal is allowed to change them at any time.

The PayPal User Agreement provides for liquidated damages of $2,500 US dollars per violation, which may be debited directly from the account.

## Is this a joke?

Unfortunately it is reality. There are cases around the internet where PayPal deducted very large sums from a single account holder.

PayPal’s payment processing services are unregulated compared to full-service merchant service providers. There is no defined appeals process to get funds back or a limitation lifted.
